What’s it all about then?.

We are delighted to announce the start of a pilot project starting in February. Dalton Celebration Singers, led by Ali Rigg, is a series of fun sessions of choral singing leading to a performance for Dalton Town Mayor Ann Thurlow.

The sessions start on Friday 9 February at Dalton Community Centre between 6pm and 8pm and continue, with an Easter break, until the performance on 20 April 2018. The sessions will help you find your voice and to learn the songs ready for the performance.

Ali creates a safe space for individuals to unite as a group using the most simple yet feared of human tools, our voices. Believing we all want time to play with our voices to experience how amazingly dynamic an instrument it truly is, Ali’s singing groups are based on having fun and laughter.

Ali said “Exploding the myth of “Singing’s a Talent”, aka “You’ve either got it, or you haven’t” is both refreshing and much needed in today’s communities. We welcome all to these sessions to unlock your singing potential.”

Coupled with her passion for demystifying the voice is an ability to connect anyone to their own singing potential. As a professional performer, she thrills people with her skilled and emotive voice, yet Ali’s most impressive gift is to connect everyone she meets with their own singing potential.

As a vocal coach and choral leader, Ali has been inspiring communities to sing in unity and with gusto.

Her legacy of building up peoples skills and confidence is clear with performance groups running to this day, over a decade beyond her finishing a project. Ali is an experienced Natural Voice practitioner and professional singer with over 18 years of running weekly casual groups along with performance groups.

Skilled in teaching a diverse range of harmony songs by ear, she uses no music theory or written music score to build up a song.

She simply sings a phrase then you echo it back… Simple!

Repeat and let it cook for a while.

Before you know it, you know the chorus of a song by heart.

By sharing vocal tips and tricks Ali starts unlocking the singing mysteries, helping you to sing with less effort and more confidence.

Dalton Creative are really excited about this project. Director Shaun Blezard said “It’s just fantastic to be awarded this grant by the Postcode Community Trust to bring a wonderful community project to life. I would encourage anyone with a passing interest in singing to come along and join us. Ali is such an inspirational leader that the sessions will be amazing and hopefully lead to many more chances for the community voices of Dalton to shine and help us celebrate our town.

Anyone interested please come along on 9 February – if you need further info then please contact Ali on 07812 155104 or email sing@alirigg.net
